Dr. Ramona Ávila Núñez
Ramona Ávila Núñez was born in Adícora, a beautiful Venezuelan beach town where she grew up and completed her early education. With her provincial roots, she went to study chemistry in the capital and, after earning a degree in Chemistry from the Faculty of Sciences at the Central University of Venezuela, began teaching at the Francisco de Miranda National Experimental University of Coro (UNEFM). A few years later, she returned to the Central University, this time to the Faculty of Pharmacy, where she earned a Master's degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry with a specialization in Drug Synthesis, and subsequently a Doctorate, also in Pharmaceutical Chemistry, specializing in Natural Products. She has been a university professor for over 30 years, has conducted research on terrestrial and marine natural products, and had the opportunity to direct the Center for Basic Science Research at UNEFM. During the pandemic, she wanted to reach people at home, eager for information to improve their quality of life.
