COVID-19 accelerated this shift, and the pandemic has had a massive impact on workers worldwide. Many people have lost their jobs, while many others have had to adapt to a new era of remote work. The World Economic Forum (WEF) states that many workers will need to learn new skills to remain employed after 2025; it also predicts that nearly 100 million new jobs will emerge in other industries, such as artificial intelligence and the green economy.
